When a child is sick, family stays.

Just up the hill from Freeman Health System’s Joplin campus, Ronald McDonald House Four States offers families a place to rest, recharge, and stay close to their hospitalized or critically ill child, ages 21 and younger. When Freeman families have a hospitalized child, Ronald McDonald House can provide wraparound, family-centered care to help keep families close. Through a referral from a Freeman social worker or the hospital care team, qualified families will have access to a private guest suite with an attached bathroom, free home-cooked meals, snacks, access to laundry, transportation assistance, and all the comforts of home. Beyond lodging support, families will also be greeted by a caring warmth that reminds them, “You can rest here.”

The Four States chapter serves families from across the region, offering services free of charge, easing everyday stress and financial burdens so parents and caregivers can focus on what matters most: their child.

When families stay at Ronald McDonald House, their team offers comfort, care, and support to help them stay strong through challenging days.

Freeman Health System and the Freeman Auxiliary have proudly supported Ronald McDonald House Four States since it first opened in 1998. Freeman’s commitment extends beyond financial and community support, with representation on the Board of Directors through Michael Herr, VP Market COO, MO/KS at Freeman Health System, and Rahul Oberoi, M.D., a neonatologist at Freeman Health System. Partnerships like these strengthen the connections that help our communities, families, and the patients we serve stay strong.
